Vector Madness!

Thinking Spring! Well I am trying to, after a long winter of snow and cold I am ready to trade in my sweaters for a pair of shorts and a t-shirt in other words I long for spring! While dreaming of warm summer days I started sketching up a butterfly design which I then took and digitized in Adobe Illustrator. 
I have recently been messing around in illustrator with pattern swatches. Below is a current piece of artwork I have created using illustrators live paint feature along with some pattern swatches.

The above image was created using a hand drawing of a butterfly and then adding color with Live Paint in Adobe Illustrator.

This wood grain pattern was created using a custom wood grain pattern swatch.

Photography Break

I love photography as much as I like design. I am a member of the twin cities Photoshop and photography meetup group. They have decided to do a one photo a day challenge. I have found this to be a fun way to take a break from some of my other projects. Here are some photos I have taken the last two days.

What to do next...

Back in August I was laid off from my full time design position. Like millions I was devastated saddened. My dream job was ripped out from under me. At the time I looked as it as a downer but now I have learned to look at in a different way. We get so wrapped up in our schedules of life we forget the things that really matter and the things we really want to do. I am now doing what I love with the support of my family and friends. No one is telling how to design no one is telling me what colors to use. I am creating my own life experiences and I am free! This video is what has inspired me to write this post!
